Farnham Humanists together with the Diocese of Guildford hosted a very successful public debate on FAITH SCHOOLS on November 8th 2005 at South Farnham School.
Nearly 200 people packed the hall and excellent contributions were provided from the floor as well as the four main speakers: Lord Dearing - a supporter of Church schools, The Rt Revd Christopher Hill - Bishop of Guildford, Marilyn Mason - Education Officer, British Humanist Association and Rev Dick Wolffe who is against faith schools and valiantly replaced Dame Tamsyn Imison (Former Head, Hampstead Comprehensive School) who unfortunately had to drop out due to illness.
The motion was carried by a majority of 14. Admission was free but £239.87 was collected for Make Poverty History.
